The Making and Meaning of the Xáxli’p Community Forest
SIBYL DIVER
The Xaxli'p Community Forest (XCF) is an evolving example of how Indigenous communities are redefining sustainability and asserting their sovereignty through natural resource governance. Written as part of a doctoral dissertation research project out of the University of California, Berkeley, the report traces over twenty years of negotiations leading up to the XCF. The report also discusses current XCF efforts to restore the interconnected ecological and cultural systems that make up Xaxli'p Survival Territory.
